About Us

The Connecticut Catholic Public Affairs Conference is a 501c(4) organization and is the public policy and advocacy office of the Catholic Bishops in Connecticut which deals directly with elected officials to influence public policy. The Board of Directors of the Conference includes the bishops of the four dioceses of Connecticut: the Archdiocese of Hartford, the Dioceses of Bridgeport and Norwich, and the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Stamford.

Conference Staff

Christopher Healy, Executive Director

Christopher C. Healy was named Executive Director of the Connecticut Catholic Conference in December, 2018. Prior to that, Mr. Healy had a successful career in media, public policy and grass roots organization. A native of New York City, Mr. Healy graduated from The Gunnery School in Washington, CT and earned a Liberal Arts Degree from Denison University.

Mr. Healy has served as a communications director for a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives, a Special Assistant for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development before starting a career in government and public relations. During this time, Mr. Healy was active in elective politics at the local, state and federal levels. He also served for four years as chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party from 2007 to 2011. For the last four years prior to his appointment, Mr. Healy served as Communications and Policy Coordinator for the Senate Republican caucus in Hartford.

He and his wife, Suzan, live in Wethersfield where he serves on the Wethersfield Board of Education and as a member of Hartford Rotary.

Deacon David W. Reynolds, Associate Director

Deacon David Reynolds advocates on numerous public policy issues for the Conference. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Hartford in 1978 and 1979 respectively. David was ordained a permanent deacon in June 2004 by Archbishop Henry Mansell and was assigned to minister to the four-parish cluster in Torrington until July 2015. He currently serves as deacon to the parish of our Lady of Hope, serving churches in Harwinton and New Hartford.

David also presently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Two Hearts Pregnancy Care Center in Torrington. He previously served for 18 years on the Board of Directors of the Torrington Chapter of FISH, a non-profit social service provider in Torrington, serving six years as Chairman. He also served on the Torrington Board of Education and City Council.

Deacon Reynolds and his wife, Lynn, reside in Torrington.

Anne LaMonica, Associate Director

Anne LaMonica advocates on behalf of Connecticut’s Catholic school children and the rights of Catholic parents, and additional public policy issues. Anne’s background in both law and education help her in these efforts. She has taught Latin and legal studies for over 18 years in public, private, and charter schools. A native of Manchester, having attended St. James and St. Bridget Schools, Anne was graduated from East Catholic High School as an O’Brien Scholar. She then received her B.A., magna cum laude, in Classics (Latin & Ancient Greek) as a Presidential Scholar at Saint Anselm College, where she helped coordinate and implement grassroots strategies for presidential campaigns. After graduation, Anne earned her M.A.T. in Latin & Classical Humanities at the University of Massachusetts- Amherst, and later a J.D and LL.M. in Estate Planning & Elder Law at Western New England University School of Law. She is a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma and Eta Sigma Phi.

Anne and her husband, David, reside in Manchester with their three children.

Lori Stewart, Legislative Liaison

Lori Stewart advocates for the Connecticut Catholic Public Affairs Conference on a variety of issues. After years of federal government employment and corporate experience within Travelers Special Liability Coverage Unit, a subset of Travelers Environmental Litigation Group, Lori joined the Conference after completing extended disaster relief work in New Jersey following Hurricane Sandy. Her past lobbying experience includes advocating at the federal level for the Global Aids Initiative. Lori is an alumna of Catholic, Independent, and Ivy League schools (St. Brigid, the Ethel Walker School, and Yale University).

Lori also brings past political campaign experience on local, state and federal levels. She has also served on the boards of various organizations including past Vice President of the Board for the Connecticut affiliate of the EverybodyWins literacy program. Lori currently serves as the first African-American female elected to the Board of the Yale Club of Hartford (and is the Conference’s first African-American lobbyist). In her spare time, she volunteers on behalf of the Malta House of Care – Waterbury, supports the work of the YMCA Y-Achievers, and contributes as Class Correspondent to her alumni magazine. She cherishes her extended familial ties to the Caribbean and maintains engagement in those communities.

Of her achievements, Lori considers motherhood her richest blessing and greatest reward.
