The  2025-2026 Connecticut Legislative session has begun with the introduction of several pieces of legislation that require your immediate attention. These issues are central to our teachings, the preservation of life and strengthening of our families through educational opportunities.

Also, please take note of the federal legislation referenced below.

TAKE ACTION NOW: PROTECT GIRLS’ SPACES & SPORTS

Proposed Bill H.B. No. 5352 'AN ACT PROHIBITING STUDENTS WHO ARE BIOLOGICAL MALES FROM COMPETING ON FEMALE-ONLY ATHLETIC TEAMS AND USING FEMALE-ONLY LOCKER ROOMS AND FACILITIES', has been referred to the Education Committee.

This legislation will restore the rights of our girls and women in scholastic sports. This law is needed to make it clear that sports must be reserved for specific genders and not a dangerous experiment for an ideology against natural law and Constitutional rights.

Federal Legislation

Call Sens. Blumenthal & Murphy to Protect  Young Women in Sports

The U.S. House of Representative Tuesday passed legislation that would strengthen protections for young women participating in scholastic sports. The legislation, House Resolution 28, would “amend the Education Amendments of 1972 to provide that for purposes of determining compliance with Title IX in the section on athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”

TAKE ACTION NOW: Protect Minors from Unproven Life-Altering Medical Treatments and Surgeries.

Proposed Bill H.B. No. 5370, 'AN ACT PROHIBITING CERTAIN TREATMENT PRACTICES AND PROMOTING PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR MINORS EXPERIENCING GENDER DYSPHORIA OR INCONGRUENCE,' has been referred to the Public Health Committee.

This legislation will prohibit health care providers from 1) prescribing puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to minors who have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria, and 2) prohibit surgeries on minors related to gender-dysphoria. The bill promotes more mental health treatment for these minors.

TAKE ACTION NOW: Strengthen Catholic Schools:

In order to build stronger scholarship foundations that can fund more Connecticut students to attend nonpublic schools, State Sen. Fazio proposed S.B.122, which encourages charitable giving by allowing tax credits for donations to scholarship granting organizations.

Planned Parenthood’s 2025 Goals:

Unsurprisingly this legislative session, Connecticut politicians and Planned Parenthood will continue their cycle of funding and campaign promises. According to its political action website "Planned Parenthood Votes," the abortion giant has its eye on increased state Medicaid reimbursement rates for abortions and increased access for minors and all immigrants.

The legislation, House Resolution 28, would “amend the Education Amendments of 1972 to provide that for purposes of determining compliance with Title IX in the section on athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”

The legislation is now headed to the U.S. Senate, and we urge all people who care about protecting the rights of girls and young women to call Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-CT, and Sen. Christopher Murphy, D-CT, and ask them to vote for this measure.

Connecticut has been on the frontlines of this fight with a federal court case pending brought by young women who were deprived of their honors and opportunities in a sporting event where young men were allowed to participate.

The rules set down by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) allow boys to participate in girls’ scholastic sports – causing the loss of scholarships and the potential for physical injury.

H.R. 28 will settle the matter and restore fairness and the rights of young women who work hard, sacrifice, and train in athletics.

Call our U.S. Senators and ask them to Support House Resolution 28 concerning young women in sports.

Protect Minors from Unproven Life-Altering Medical Treatments and Surgeries.

The evidence for these medical measures, which are promoted as part of gender-affirming care, is severely lacking. Prescriptions of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to minors for gender dysphoria do not fall under approved FDA uses. Several other Western European nations and several states have taken steps to ban certain medical treatments for minors suffering from gender dysphoria due to concerns over the long-term, life-long harm that they may cause. The U.S. Supreme Court is now considering a challenge to a state law banning certain treatments. During a hearing on the case, many justices were surprised at the lack of evidence proving that these medical practices helped minors.

Appropriate and safe care for our youth is critically important. The State of Connecticut should place bans on certain treatments until broad-based scientific evidence proves that they are beneficial and will not harm minors in years to come.

Advocates will disguise their work against the unborn by seeking Medicaid and private insurance reimbursement for birthing doulas that they do not employ, but this could be an attempt to build a foundation to reimburse abortion doulas.

Leaving no stone unturned in the state, Planned Parenthood seeks to expand its influence and subvert Catholic hospitals’ ban on abortions and abortion referrals. Despite Planned Parenthood's talking points last year, Catholic hospitals in Connecticut provide miscarriage care and always aim to save the life of the mother in an emergency.

In fear of federal and interstate actions, Planned Parenthood plans to seek increased legal protections for telehealth services for abortions and transgender treatments.

Watch for updates on these issues as the legislative session proceeds.
