Connecticut Pregnancy Care Center Coalition Reacts Strongly to Negative Letter Signed by U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal

The Connecticut Pregnancy Care Coalition (CPCC) has responded strongly to a letter signed by U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and six other Senators, that makes unfounded negative comments about pro-life pregnancy care centers. The CPCC viewed this letter as an inflammatory attempt to create further political division in this state and country, and to reiterate a charge with no evidence to support it.

Lisa Maloney, Executive Director of the CPCC, took offense to all the overall degrading tone of the Senator's letter concerning pro-life centers.

Religious Discrimination

video has surfaced that reveals some very disturbing hiring practices followed by an assistant principal in the Greenwich School System. The assistant principal attempts to hire teachers that he believes are politically liberal, and he uses age and religious affiliation to weed out conservatives. In the video, he clearly states that he does not hire any teacher who is Catholic. He worries that Catholics may be too conservative for the school environment he is trying to build. He also prefers hiring teachers under 30 years of age because he believes they will be more progressive. Older people tend to be more conservative.

Watch a video of the Conference’s Executive Director, Christopher Healy, responding to this revelation.

Section 1557 is the nondiscrimination provision of the Affordable Care Act. It protects people from discrimination on the basis of their sex in health care. But the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services (HHS) has proposed a rule implementing Section 1557, which would seriously impede Catholic hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities, and health care workers from carrying out their work.

Join the USCCB in encouraging HHS to clarify that “discrimination on the basis of sex” is not an abortion mandate, and that health care workers and medical facilities must be free to conscientiously object to gender transition procedures.

The process of enacting legislation in Connecticut can move very quickly and be very confusing to the average citizen. Public hearings are often held with very short notice. Committee votes can be announced within a days notice. The speed and technicalities of the legislative process can leave even the most astute political insider confused at times.

The Connecticut General Assembly will convene in January 2023 to once again begin the legislative process. In order to keep our network members better informed, CCPAC plans to more fully utilize mobile texting. CCPAC will be able to text updates as soon as it is known when a hearing or vote will be taken on a piece of legislation of interest. Texting is the best way for the CCPAC to reach its members when time to act is very limited.

CCPAC also understands the need to limit its sending of text messages to its members. We will only send text messages when absolutely necessary.

Please click below to update your profile with your mobile phone number so you can become a part of our texting network. You can always cancel at anytime.
